BYE BYE BIRDIE. This was my makeshift tie-bow blouse attempt with a solid top and matching colour scarf (from last spring's bird print craze). But because the scarf had a bird print on it, it contrasted too much for a good imitation but still turned out fun to wear with a girly bow to decorate my neckline. Keeping it simple and relatively monochromatic for one of the first signs of warmer weather this year (3/7). And hey, it blended perfectly with my new backpack too.

The last few days have been "ugh" with studying, not sleeping, and attending to exam season. Luckily there has been a lot of fun, adventure, and food embedded with the mundane, so it ain't half bad. Been riding my bike more and thoroughly enjoying the sun. Looking forward to a less hectic half of the week and Girls Night Out @Saks !

FRESHLY MINTED. Haha, clever title, no? This was the all-mint green outfit I was aiming for this St. Patrick's Day but it rained the entire day in San Diego, so yesterday (3/19) was the perfect opportunity to wear it back in St. Louis: 84 degrees and sunny (someone needs to fire that meteorologist, because we all felt like losers in our rain gear) and SPRING SPRING SPRING! There's nothing more mood-lifting than the blossoming pastels of flowering trees on campus and spontaneous trips to Starbucks and the Loop. In fact I think the Midwest skipped spring and went ahead and did summer on the Spring Equinox. Warning: this post may lead to visual overdosing on mint green. This exceeds your recommended daily amount by 10^9. Proceed with caution and open-mindedness towards my pastel obsession problems.

Can you believe this mini Longchamp Le Pliage look-alike was a free gift from a contacts store in Taiwan? At first I had no idea what I would use such a tiny thing for but it surprisingly holds a lot: my EKG manual, sunglasses, keys, cards, notes, etc. It also folds up and buttons shut and is quite sturdy. The socks were free gift along with a cute plastic popsicle container when I got my Tarepanda mini-scale too. My white pumping disappearing into the lush grass, almost feeling their cool soft spikiness between my toes, add a few pearls to balance the mint with cream. This big tree with all the gorgeous white flowers finally woke from its slumber and gave off such a wondrous aroma. It felt like playing under a giant mushroom and then the bumblebees scared me off. Ha.

Here's a funny story: since I've had this outfit planned for a week now, I wasn't taking no for an answer - rain or shine. But alas, after pulling both mint items out of my suitcase, they were and have been wrinkled (the most frustrating fabric) and unsightly. So I dripped some water on them and hung them on my window, hoping the sun would dry them before class, but they remained sopping wet. Then I threw them in the laundry. Then I aired them out during racquetball practice. Then I went to the locker room and held them under the hand dryer machine for 20 minutes. Yay finally dry and unwrinkly! Then I put them on and they immediately wrinkled FML lol.

I really need to go to bed earlier - self, at 3 AM.

GREEN MACHINE. What I wore to a delicious brunch at The Creperie in Clayton with JJ (1/15). I absolutely love quirky and punny t-shirts and he got me this cute sushi one that says "This is How I Roll" when he went up to San Fran with friends last week. Why stop there with the green? On goes different tones of my favourite colour and it's just downright silly. Looks like St. Patty's Day came two months in advance. Took these pictures today though because it was so much warmer (67 degrees what STL? Stay like this forever baby).

Monte Carlo is the best dadgum crepe I've ever tasted. It has fresh strawberries, coconut, walnuts, and this ice cream/whipped cream-like cream to go with. Biking uphill in super-wind was actually worth it. I love the ambiance of The Creperie because it's loud, crowded, and has a kind of coffeeshop/Euro cafe feel. The outside sunroom is well-insulated, warm, and gives a nice street view out into the business district. This is how I roll.

Having a nice clean room is a huge accomplishment pre-semester. We vacuumed (nothing more gratifying than listening to the crackle of dirty junk getting picked up by a veritable vortex), unpacked, packed up last semester's things, and now have massive amounts of floor space. My last first day of college tomorrow - a mixed bag of feelings.

JUST DANCE, GONNA BE OKAY. This was my outfit for St. Louis Fashion Week @ Macy's (10/12). I aimed for a classic yet interesting look - sheer pleated maxi worn over a cutout bodycon, accessories silver and snazzy. The sheer and long silhouette made me want to dance and sway and I'm happy to say I got a lot of looks during the party and show. Threw on a blazer for the sake of modesty and staying warm. The dress works as a great miniskirt kind of slip too.

Jewelmint recently contacted me and had me choose two pieces from their collection to try out. I'm wearing the Calypso necklace here - it's really pretty and has three stones that match pretty much anything. I like the shape and length too. A more thorough review coming up soon (I also got the Astoria necklace).

Notes: Yes, I look slightly possessed in the first photo. I had a Photoshop adventure removing plugs and a big black light cable out. CS5's content aware removal is pretty good but not perfect, so a lot of it turned out to be manual clone stamping. Not much else to add, other than I have so much to post about Fashion Week and so little time. This week is exceptionally busy, with multiple exams, papers, prepping for a med school interview, adoption season. When will there be a breather? Notice: stress levels and amount of blogging have a strong positive correlation. Bee tea dubs: You NEED to go see Monet's Water Lilies. It was the highlight of my Fall Break! I was lost in the colours and got super emotional when I saw Agapanthus. Yeah, world's biggest dork award goes to me.

In the Emerald City

ONE SHORT LONG DAY. Yesterday (9/6) felt like a good day to wear a satin kimono top with my new H&M Pants Collection slim fit (super skinnayy) forest green jeans. I got a lot of stares around campus and a few "Are you a leprechaun today?"s but it was worth the Wizard of Oz inspiration. Inconvenient truth about these jeans: no pockets! The side zip is nice to prevent unsightly crotch bunching. It has a hotpants kind of feel, a bit of high-waist going on. The kimono top had a weird stain in it, but that just means I got it for only $7 at Pitaya :) Love that the back is really long - gives it an elegant feel.

I really want a pair of those dorky green Wizard of Oz sunglasses they had in the movie to go with this. It was my favourite movie in kindergarten for sure. I remember playing Glinda over and over again for the class play despite not being able to speak English. Inspiration: Dorothy outfit, Tin man, maybe others! First, do lots and lots of homework. Notes: It's getting chillier yay! Need a reliable spot for 5 minute shoots in the morning. Lighting is very tricky at 9:30 AM.

Rest in peace, Dean McLeod. You will be cherished and missed.

Blues Hues

I did it. I applied to med school! First step of applications completed last night and finally submitted. Instantaneously a huge weight has been lifted off my chest though I know there is a much longer road ahead. Nevertheless, the rush of exhilaration and nerves felt good after writing and rewriting my story over and over again for this past week. Who knew that talking about yourself could be so darn hard? Shouldn't I know my life better than anyone? As my er ge says, "You'd be surprised."

This monochromatic blue hues outfit was for work about a week ago (6/8) on a Wednesday - midweek slump calls for some over-the-top colour coordination, eh? Ironically the red pops out more than the blue in my skirt, though the red stripes are thinner. Funky how the human brain interprets things. I've been recycling my Forever 21 pieces to some good use and the interest flats were irresistible in that Taipei night market - around $6 USD and in size 5! Surprisingly, my feet are considered too small in Taiwan too - is there any place on earth I'm not considered a mutant?

I have a huge backlog of photos, including those taken with my spankin' new and shiny Canon Rebel T2i + 50mm f/1.8 lens. Absolutely can't wait to post those :) Meanwhile I have started a Flickr account to post my SLR photos with since I've noticed that Blogger/Picasa do not keep the colour profile intact upon upload.

So far, this weekend has been surprisingly productive - studying MCAT Bio all over again at Kaldi's Coffeeshop, playing Wii Sports Resort and taking out life frustrations with Boxing (man my triceps hurt today), and right now going to eat some delicious ultra-legit Korean BBQ. Thanks for all the good lucks :D Thinking of you guys and your support makes me so happy!
