Happy Thursday! This is oftentimes my favourite day of the week because it's the one day to pause in a crazy week to relax and reflect without all the hectic rushing to class, or waiting in lines for food, or burning the midnight oil to finish that term paper. This outfit was for Monday, which is surprising because I find myself barely even having time to throw on many clashing layers before running out the door. The mustard yellow scarf and electric blue tights were new finds at Target the other week. I couldn't let go of the soft cashmere-like material and this bold autumn colour, so I shelled out the $13 and stocked up on tights and socks. I can't believe the costs of tights, leggings, and socks these days to keep your happy feet away from frostbite. It's often the little pieces that are hidden away behind bold prints and big outfit pieces that actually do most of the work as clothing, and the prices add up D: The sweater I left unbelted (you may remember me wearing it a while ago here) to enjoy that bell-like flare effect. The boots I have never shown before but I got them a year ago at Cutesygirl.com. They're quite uncomfortable when worn for over half an hour, which was disappointing because they're 5.5's and quite snug. Heeled boots are not very practical for walking around on slippery icy sidewalks or biking, so I have been refraining from thigh highs, military style, and all the other trends I've been craving for a while.

We shot these photos at about 5 PM, which means most of the sunlight has disappeared from my usual sidewalk intersection with all the shade. This change of locale meant going out the back of our dorm to the street and using the dark brick and holly trees as backgrounds, which created cool effects and something new (my boyfriend's photography is improving every single time, I'm very impressed :D). Then I ran across the narrow street to a low brick wall next to a ONE WAY sign, which happens to point directly at me in some photos. I can't wait to play with the wildflowers again, because not only is ungroomed nature the most beautiful at times, but also they seem to be lasting pretty well through the 40 and 50 degree weather.

Fall is all about being cozy and bundled up with rosy cheeks, about seeing your breath as you talk, about holding a cup of hot coffee in your gloved hands. I've been wearing my trench coat and multiple layers every day this week because we have descended into winter. Like all things, autumn is a fragile and transient thing. I am definitely a procrastinator and easily distracted person. It's hard to motivate the start of doing something, and I miss having the reckless abandon and "anything you can do I can do better"attitude during high school. I've become tamed, a hedger, reluctant to schedule in free-time because it seems like pushing all the work aside. We're all human and we need breaks. Funny enough, even without scheduling in play, I defy the rest of my plans because I need to stop working and take a breather, which creates a huge backlog of work.

Whenever I ride the subway and my back is facing the conductor, I feel like I'm traveling backwards in time. The whole train shakes as we snake through the tunnels, and my thoughts a moment ago have been left behind a whole thousand yards in front of me. Flying backwards doesn't feel right, it's not natural. I can't see where I'm going, I feel like someone else is completely in control. Tomorrow will be a new day. When the doors hiss open, I'm going to sit backwards in my seat and hold my hands out, ready to catch the life that I thought was passing me by.

i bought that same mustard scarf at Target yesterday and i love it!! great layering piece now that the weather's getting colder.

it's too bad those boots aren't comfy after 30 minutes. they look super cute on you -- love the color and buckle detailing!

I love the pics of you sitting next to the One Way sign. It means so little, yet it speaks volumes about how unknown we are of the future. Sorry for the strange insight into the pics :p I got the vibe after reading the last part of your post. When i used to take the subway to work, I used to sit in the part where it moves backwards as well. It was an odd feeling, but I felt so free after I got off the train :)

It is neat how the color of your scarf matches the wildflowers in the background. And yes, your bf's photos keep improving, but it is your interesting poses that make it the most interesting. :-)

Love the ending of your blog of how you mentioned about travelling backwards in in time while on the train. Never thought of it that way but now when I'm sitting on the train going backwards, I know what I will be thinking about ^---^

Angie! You're adorable as usual, and I love the colors of your outfit. I totally agree how ridiculous the price for leggings and long socks are. I was at the mall the other day and I wanted long army green socks, but I was too cheap to shell out 12$, mainly because I don't have a credit card and I had a limited amount of cash on me. I love the last paragraph of your post too <3

Though u mentioned those boots arent comfortable after walking for half an hour, that's still not too bad... though i would never be able to haha. And i know the feeling when you travel on train and thanks for such awesome descriptions in words. definitely something to think about :)
