PUMPED UP KICKS. Outfit for 11.11.11 (yes, the whole internet picked this up too, some quite obnoxiously). This unexpected combination of asymmetrical hem and wearing my skirt as a top is about as creative as I can manage after rolling out of bed on a cold Friday. I tried to keep it relatively neutral and soft with an ivory skirt, but the length and shocking contrast looked funny, so I swapped it for a black bodycon. In my last minute scurry to not freeze to death in the 40 degree morning chill, my dark sheer dotted tights were nowhere to be found, so I pulled out this teal opaque pair from last winter. It constrasts quite well with the bright red and crazy dots.

• Scenario 1: Sitting in a French coffeeshop, drinking something even tastier than Starbucks' holiday lattes, reading all the books I've missed out on in the past decade.
• Scenario 2: At Kayak's coffeeshop, drinking something with the fun fern pattern on top, reading the last Millenium trilogy book.
• Scenario 3: At the library, drinking black coffee from a thermos, frantically reading my 10 lb stats book and doing problems until I pass out.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma City was a blast and I bumped into so many people from high school. Small world! Tangled is an adorable movie despite the implausible details (e.g. perfect unfrizzy hair, really?) that defy the laws of nature and physics. You don't question the Disney. I am pumped to finish off the remaining bits of this semester strong and have a happy Thanksgiving with my family back in San Diego. My last college formal is also this weekend, so the designer dress I rented will be featured for your eyes especially ; )

BEELINE | SKYLINE. A zippy post for zippy times. Took some quick shots after meeting Wong Fu on Saturday, trying out flash/night photography (11/12). Obviously not as nice as daytime photos but there are some cool effects. This sunny yellow dress had a double purpose: match my community service group's colours for our wrapping party (think pretty foil paper, bows, onesies and other adorable presents for our adopted St. Louis families) and stand out for meeting the Youtube stars. A little bit of "Yellow Fever," anyone?

These boots are super cute and comfy - around $6 USD from a Taipei night market sale. The bling is actually hollowed out spots versus the usual crystals, but nevertheless it's entertainingly sparkly in the night lights. Bow on the back, bling on the kitten heel, velvet texture - perfect replacement for my worn out black knee-highs from last winter's battles. Falling asleep as we speak and headed to Oklahoma City in the morning. Hah, fooled you St. Louis - I'm skipping town before you can call take-backs on the gorgeous 70 weather this weekend.

I MET THREE NICE GUYS. Phil Wang, Ted Fu, Wesley Chan of WongFu Productions came to WashU Saturday night to chat about their journey to YouTube-dom (11/12/11). Last time we met was in Ann Arbor for MAASU three years ago, but our group didn't stand a chance getting into the workshop room. The talk was casual and down-to-earth, and after all this internet fame, none of this went to their heads. In fact, their success came from a long series of ups and downs, always having a backup plan in case things didn't pan out. As a blogger, I can relate to a lot of what they described, and I'm sure many of you can too. 

I knew they attended UCSD, but was surprised to discover these three were visual arts majors. However, their short films are always low-budget, creative ways of utilizing their resources and good "eye." Treat: they showed a few exclusive not-yet-released clips that I thought were clever and fantastic. In the end, they stayed to take photos with about 200 people and sign 200 autographs. With my SLR in tow (always), Phil took notice and asked if I take a lot of photography. I responded that I'm a fashion blogger on the side and a Neuroscience major by day, but I like living out my artsy dreams too. He told me to keep pursuing this and it made me happy to see true evidence of how a whole lot of hard work and luck can make any dream legit.

I am such a fangirl. My heart was pounding when they pointed at me to ask a question. How do they combat negativity from faceless internet users? Their reply? "Haters gonna hate." They said focus on the support from your fans and ignore those ignorant people who write things that don't make sense, are misspelled, and just look at the username. It should be enough to give you an idea of their maturity level and your supporters step up and downvote awful comments even when you don't ask. Other people (including me) thought that WongFu was Phil and Ted's last name, and they just cut Wes out hahaha. The real reason is that in 7th grade, Phil thought "Wong-Fu" was like Kung-Fu.

A certain letter from med school made my day when I got home that night ; ) WOOHOO!

• New favourite place on campus: Yellow gingko trees outside the library in late autumn. They are the perfect shade of golden yellow and you feel like you're in a magical forest.
• New favourite mood: A cafe during a light rain. The smell of sweet coffee is the nicest aroma to hit your olfactory bulbs when you walk in the door

I'M YOUR GOLDEN GIRL. Another one of those I-don't-care-that-it's-raining-all-day-I-will-still-wear-bright-colours campaigns for Tuesday (11/8). Remixed from this summer version of royal blue + fuchsia. Add a practical waterproof trench coat from Target, cinched nicely with a bow belt. Now I know why there's a room in the library called "The Gingko Room" ... used to take naps in there freshman year xD This time of year, it's the most beautiful view on campus. That perfect gingko-path leading to the quad. Remember this early autumn post? The leaves were still so green back then.

Rainy days after 12 hours of sleep call for a hot thermos of coffee and some library lovin'. Thanks to the best boyfriend-photographer, weathering the impending rain to get these shots. My favourite part of blogging is the blabbing part. I always write the content first to get my thoughts and moods down and then reluctantly deal with editing and coding photos later on. Readers, how do you deal with the blogging blues? How do you motivate yourself to keep churning out new content when the more you learn, the more it starts to feel like work?
