Happy Tuesday! Though I was a public school kid growing up, I quite admired the look of uniforms. Since college, I've developed my own personal formula for a no-brainer uniform. By now you know my year-round go-to is a top+skirt combo, always tucked in and usually belted, often mistaken for a dress. It'd be nice to have this many dresses, eh? This morning I grabbed two lace pieces and added a yellow belt to make it into a primary color palette for clinic. Props to the women who can strut in clinic for 10 hours in 5 inch heels and not complain a peep, but a few inches of vertical help aren't worth the toe-squishing for me (and my patients are kiddos so I'm usually taller ... usually).

New concept: take < 10 pictures and magically blogging the way out of my outfit backlog become less of a dreaded, harrowing task. Apparently everyone has figured this out years ago but obstinately, I keep snapping away for different poses to fulfill my OCDish-ness. From now on I hope to streamline this process so that even during my busiest weeks I can still update. Last week: swooned by crooning Bruno Mars in concert, painting a night skyline while munching on cupcakes, chasing giant butterflies through the conservatory greenhouse, attempting to birdwatch, spontaneous dinosaur origami making, getting lost in a 32-room bookstore, David Sedaris, Pacific Rim, buffalo chicken grilled cheese. Have a great rest of the week and stay cool in this heat!

SUMMER TO WINTER: COLORBLOCK YEAR-ROUND. Remember this summer colorblock outfit? I reused most of the pieces and color scheme but made it cold weather-appropriate because spring has sprung back into winter. By throwing on a purple sweater and black faux leather tights underneath, this pairing has become more cozy and a bit more interesting. The leather leggings are more matte in person but they photograph all liquidy. Cool-like. JJ and I explored around the neighborhood for interesting photo locations and we found someone's house that had a cool archway. Hahaha by now I've used all sorts of neighbor's architecture as backgrounds xD Don't tell anyone, but this outfit was from late February (2/28) ... talk about needing to get rid of this backlog of posts!

Dude. My hair was sooo different back then.

LATHER UP IN LEATHER. For a chillier spring day, quick transitioning from PJ's to comfy school outfit, to going out at night (4/11). We took these photos almost after sundown - the T2i never fails to amaze me with how much it can suck the light out of any situation and inject it into the photos. Spontaneous pho dinner to warm up, cozying and slouching in my beanie all the way to bed. This weekend has been overflowing with programming as the semester (and my college experience) is quickly coming to an end :( But good moments make it worth it, like going to the carnival and screaming my face off on the two thrilling rides, meeting up with old friends back in town, thrift shopping at Goodwill (finally!), eating soooo much food. Now it's le cray exam week, which means study/blog marathon. Fueled by Ramen and Coffee.

  • New favourite place on campus: Yellow gingko trees outside the library in late autumn. They are the perfect shade of golden yellow and you feel like you're in a magical forest.
  • New favourite mood: A cafe during a light rain. The smell of sweet coffee is the nicest aroma to hit your olfactory bulbs when you walk in the door

I'M YOUR GOLDEN GIRL. Another one of those I-don't-care-that-it's-raining-all-day-I-will-still-wear-bright-colours campaigns for Tuesday (11/8). Remixed from this summer version of royal blue + fuchsia. Add a practical waterproof trench coat from Target, cinched nicely with a bow belt. Now I know why there's a room in the library called "The Gingko Room" ... used to take naps in there freshman year xD This time of year, it's the most beautiful view on campus. That perfect gingko-path leading to the quad. Remember this early autumn post? The leaves were still so green back then.

Rainy days after 12 hours of sleep call for a hot thermos of coffee and some library lovin'. Thanks to the best boyfriend-photographer, weathering the impending rain to get these shots. My favourite part of blogging is the blabbing part. I always write the content first to get my thoughts and moods down and then reluctantly deal with editing and coding photos later on. Readers, how do you deal with the blogging blues? How do you motivate yourself to keep churning out new content when the more you learn, the more it starts to feel like work?

ELECTRIC BLUE + FUCHSIA = HEAD-TURNER. Remember that list of fall colorblocking ideas? Today (9/29) was super sunny, in the mid 80s, hot and windy. Wearing a body-hugging skirt helped keep cool and prevented inappropriate flashing. This colour combination really POPS - I got all sorts of stares and eyes glued to my crazy bold skirt as I walked past. I hope to recycle this bold pairing with more fall-appropriate pieces once the temperature drops again.

These earrings are from twentythree handmade. I purchased them along with two headbands and Hedwig's Ballad from the Wunderkinblitz collection earlier in the summer but never got around to posting (will do soon). They are really light despite their cute chunkiness and the pink complements my skirt. I love that each earring has a different design too! Asymmetry love.

You guys know my obsession with having utilitarian pockets on my skirts and dresses. I was super happy to find out that this ultra-bright mini from H&M had functional zipper pockets! I love the gold against the fuchsia. Sneaking away snacks and keeping my jewelry safe = gusta. My nails are all ready for fall but this outfit is missing summer. Yesterday post-Immunology all I did was watch a campy Jackie Chan film (Wheels on Meals), ogle at the beautiful documentary Human Planet, and catch up on ANTM and Glee. Life has been a breathable allegretto versus the recent break-neck prestissimo pace. This is the calm before the next cytokine storm.

Cool new Blogger tip: Now there are 7 different Dynamic Views (+ Classic and Magazine in addition to the 5 they released back then) that you can apply as a default view for your blog. You can use these in Dashboard ---> Template. However, SAVE YOUR TEMPLATE FIRST. It will change your layout semi-permanently when you click "Apply to Blog." Preview first with the magnifying glass icon (hover). They're pretty cool! I'm sticking with my custom layout though.

Congrats TORI (2/47) for winning the High Gloss Fashion giveaway! Please email me your final choice piece of jewelry.

The graph of temperature versus public body odor exponentially increases at about 80 degrees.

Fall Colorblocking Ideas

Once you colorblock you just can't stop. A real quick update before Biochem. I stumbled upon this cool slideshow that features 5 fall colorblock combinations. They're so punchy and perfect for warming up fall on those days that neutral and earthyness won't cut it. I plan on styling an outfit for each of these very soon. All photos property of Stylecaster.com.
Got this one covered from summer. Now more cold-weather appropriate items is up to bat.
Inspiration of the day for a DIY project: similar colored leather and cloth shirt. Definitely want to make this!
