GOT ANTIOXIDANTS? My friend and housemate used to drink V8 Splash Berry something and morph into the superhero Berry Man. He is ever the character. Wore this to a student group meeting and spontaneous Saturday-ness (9/10). Allow me to introduce you to my closet's newest additions: H&M bright pink bowler hat - saw this baby sitting in the crowd and needed to have this on my head. Got compliments/interested looks right away :) Pitaya super-boyfriend blazer: reminds me of a tux and is super long (only $36 too at a boutique!?), got it a few months ago, first wear. Leopard print flats from Target, size 5.5 runs small because of the scrunch shape - digging the micro scallops! Looks a bit odd jutting out in the back for my small feet. Make sure you wear bandages/padding in the back while breaking them in - lots of abrasion => blisters => HURT => ugly scabs. Uncuffed these old cheap F21 shorts for an extra 2 inches, more modesty and comfort.

Yes, I am drowning in an Olympic sized pool of work and just managed to have an exceptionally bad Monday. But you know what? It's not the worst that could happen. I'm not working 3 jobs trying to scrape together enough funds to pay for grad school like a friend of mine. #washuproblems doesn't even begin to undermine my whiny first-world complaints. I'm reminded every day that I should be grateful that I have food, can pay rent, and don't have 9 kids to feed. Some people in this very city deal with that nightmare every day as their reality.

Here comes a long thinkity-think rant on where I stand now with this. My hobby-turned-kinda-real-life.

What's the most productive "unproductive" thing I can do? Oh right, blogging. To be honest, I don't feel that guilty when I choose blogging over traditional work. It's a journal to record daily meandering thoughts, to show the world a daily slice of my closet, and be eloquent while having non-science, non-homework, non-essay fun. It is in all senses of the word, productive.

I had a long talk with an old friend of mine last last Saturday night. He brought a lot into perspective - who knew after all this time, many stories are hidden behind every face. I was also reminded to dream, no matter how fruitless the effort may seem, how high my hopes might reach into the sky, to be impractical. From a Portal 2 reference, "TZ: You could be that doctor with a degree in fashion from France. Glados is talking about you." Me: "But I would design cooler jumpsuits and cinch the waist up higher for definition." Exactly. I'll remember to be like the PI who picked up his kids in a sleigh while dressed up as Santa, to make time to discover new beers, to build connections with people. There is always work. "Free time" is subjective. How you partition it and what you do with it is what makes your life truly yours.

Do what you love and do it often.

Angie, I love the color combo! I haven't incorporated a boyfriend blazer into my wardrobe yet but I think it definitely works with a feminine or nice fitting top or bottom.

I hope you do continue to dream so you can continue to motivate me as well.. Why not be the doctor with a fashion degree? ;)

Sorry to hear that the flats were hard to break in. Love your words of wisdom about doing what you love - so true! That pink hat is adorable, I just bought the light gray version and it's gonna get a lot of wear!
