FOTD: Cleanse Your Colour Palette

Hi there lovelies! I hope you're having a fantastic weekend because I am all full of bubble tea and pork buns from one of the asian clubs' general body meeting. This is the makeup look that went with yesterday's outfit post, something inspired by all the bright crazy colours in floral patterns. I don't usually wear falsies because I feel like they obstruct my view and make my lids heavy or crazy bright colours because I am all about the big picture in outfit pics. However, I have soooo much makeup and a little extra time, so I got to playing with fun exotic shades.

For the eyes, I wanted something smokey and lots of liner to make my eyes bigger with the falsies. I tried out my new ELF Shimmer eyeliners and was very impressed. For $1 USD, they are really soft and pigmented and actually stay on. I don't feel like I'm scratching my eyeball or getting Crayola-happy, so I was able to use a bright turquoise colour on the bottom lashline without looking too much like a freak show haha. For the lips, I was inspired by something I saw on the runway earlier: a bright fuchsia on the lower lip and a bright orange on the upper lip. I used a vibrant berry shade all over my lips, then applied a lilac lipgloss on the top lips. It's very subtle in room lighting but under bright luminescence the difference is very visible. Please excuse the bathroom pics ... I really need to find a place that allows me to take pictures with flash and gives me colour accuracy.

My new favourite blush is ELF Studio in Pink Passion! It's such a pretty matte bright pink that when dabbed on looks super natural but when layered gives a gyaru kawaii dolly look. Can we get a Rock&Republic dupe woot woot? I think it can qualify as a R&R Kinky dupe but I can't attest because I wasn't willing to fork over the goods for such a HUGE blush even when on major sale :D I'm a $3 blush kind of gal haha.

Products used:
Kiwiberry False eyelash #1
ELF Studio Eyebrow Kit in Dark
ELF Shimmer Eyeliner Pencil in Teal, lower lashline
Wet n Wild E/S Palette in Lust (shimmery grey) all over lid
ELF Studio Creme Eyeliner in Black
Revlon Photo Ready Foundation in 04 Nude
ELF Studio Concealer Pencil in Light
ELF Studio Blush in Pink Passion
ELF Lipstick in Posh
Revlon Lustrous Shine Lipgloss in Lilac Pastelle layered over top lip
Estee Lauder Nail Polish in Autumn

Bathroom lighting
This pic doesn't quite pick up the difference very well but the top lip should be more purple-lilac
 Flash
Hair up, no flash, using my boyfriend's Canon (same one as mine but older model)

If you've been wearing the same look for a while, try something really different! I'm all about getting out of the comfort zone. I really like the different lip colour on top and bottom lips idea because it can be so subtle if you want it to be, or super drastic. The hardest thing is not blending your lips together and mashing the colours into a hot mess.

For now I should probably really crank out that personal statement and physics homework. In some hours it will be time to sleep, wake up, drag self to class, lab, come back and stay up all night to complete a crazy lab write-up and another exhausting week. I have a huge line-up of outfit posts to do as well so I should get cracking like the Kraken xD Enjoy a hardworking Monday, loves!

I'm pretty pleased with elf products too! The pink passion blush was sold out when I last purchased but maybe it could be a dupe. I picked up R&R kinky from hautelook and I agree it's a bit much, even with the discount! I love it though and probably won't be buying blush for years to come since they are so big.

Haven't tried the glimmer sticks you mentioned here but that will be on a list for the next order. I just got some of their lipsticks and like them a lot, esp for $1.

You look so good with colorful makeup! But you did a good job of not looking like a clown hahaha. You should definitely wear falsies more often...they really open up your eyes!

Oh and don't feel bad...I'm a $3 makeup kinda person too ^^

I tried to look for ELF products at my Target, but they don't carry them unfortunately. But maybe that's a good thing because I would probably go crazy buying up all their stuff at those prices!

Hey girl, this is such a pretty look! I love that you paired muted eyes with a subtle pop of teal and a bright bold lip.

ELF actually has some pretty decent products, I think their blushes & bronzers are really good :)
