Sea World San Diego

Outfit of the day: sailor suit! It suits the occasion, eh? Haha oh my bad puns ...
Giant penguin stuffed animals! They're so cute
Bat rays! The aquarium looked like Atlantis indeed
Dolphins and killer whales (luckily Shamu are nicer than wild orca)
Journey to Atlantis ride - full of surprises and splashes

DOLPHINS AND ORCA AND WALRI, OH MY! Yesterday I went to Sea World San Diego for the first time with my Dad. I remember going to the one in Cleveland as a kid but this one takes the cake. I didn't expect there to be roller coasters and rides in addition to the world-renowned Shamu and Blue Horizons shows but they were fun and the marine animals plentiful. Another thing crossed off the summer bucket list! I think my favourite part was the underwater shark viewing tunnel. Pictures using my new iPhone 4S, which is so convenient in everything compared to my old smartphone.

Have you seen my blog sale yet? Brand new or lightly used clothing starting at $4 :)

Fish Tacos in SD

SAN DIEGO SNAPSHOTS. What did I do after pulling an almost all-nighter in the bio library for my first last-semester final, napping on sofa chairs with my legs flopping off the edge? Oh, nothing, just watch a crap ton of America's Next Top Model and Jenna Marbles on Youtube. It's funny how motivation to not sleep flees the scene when there's studying to be done but after the test, all the energy reappears and this is why I'm still up trying not to break my blogging chain (6 days and counting). Meanwhile, check out this sweet feature Kitty Cotten surprised me with as I scrolled through my feed. This girl knows how to design  graphically pretty and embellish photographs. Thank ya :)

Homigah I'm graduating college in two weeks. Two weeks until my friends disperse all around the world and move onto the next chapters of their lives. Two weeks until sweating in our emerald robes and crying when it hits us. Two weeks til San Diego - you and I are going to do this summer right. These are old snapshots of when JJ and I went to explore downtown and the Gaslamp District last Thanksgiving Break, mmm fish tacos. Can't wait to meet up with local blogger faves and learn how to surf!

P.S. It's raining fire in St. Louis. 90 degrees every day for the next two weeks, probably lost 5 lbs today to sweat. Dipped my legs into the dorm pool and indulged in an ice cold Coke. *snap* *gulp gulp* ahhhhh ....

I'M DREAMING OF A WHITE CHRISTMAS. As much as I want to roll around and make it a completely lazy Friday, Day 4 of The 12 Days of Fabulous! Can you believe it's only a week til Christmas? One more final and I'm leaving on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again. Winter Break is a much-needed recoup after this trying semester that danced away at a break-neck and yet sluggish pace. Meanwhile, I just beat Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword tonight. Oh man, I already feel nostalgic. We had a good run, Link.

BOYFRIEND BLAZER + A-LINE ROMPER. This blue romper is from the little gem of a store called SKY Boutique, located right by where I live. I remember feeling in awe as I walked around looking at all her treasures but frowning at the price tags. The colour is so perfect for the tail end of summer and the gold buttons give it a nautical feel. Best of all, there are pockets and the shorts part flare out a bit to give a feminine shape. With a strand of pearls on, I got complimented by a fellow WashU gal that I didn't even know. Threw on my navy boyfriend tuxedo blazer from Pitaya to keep warm for a day of exploration in Downtown San Diego (11/23) back during Turkey Break. Just looking at these photos now makes me cold! Just 3 more days of this Midwest chill and I'm back to walking on sunshine.

Drenched in a SoCal sunset, little plaza betwixt Jamba Juice and Starbucks.

Balboa the Explorer

Fu fu fu! Success for having a day FULL of adventures at Balboa Park and coming home in one piece :D My parents are always the ultra over-protective type, thinking I can't go anywhere without a bodyguard (either my taller-than-me-but-still-younger brother or my boyfriend) at my old weak-boned age. I understand their concern because there are a lot of creeps and sickos out there in the world but it's nice to just go off and have fun and explore on your own - you, the fresh air inhaled deep with scents of exotic flora, your meandering thoughts. Of course I had to make sure people weren't going to attack me because unfortunately even in such a beautiful place like Balboa Park there have been recent incidents D: Stay away foos! I got pepper spray, a heavy purse, shifty eyes, and 3 years of swordfighting experience under my belt HAH. Hopefully that will be enough? Stay safe lovelies! Always be aware of your surroundings, use the buddy system, don't go out after dark alone! Okay I really sound like my parents now xD

I am so exhausted from walking around and going through 3 different museums (San Diego History, Photographic Arts, Museum of Man). I remember one photo made me cry instantly when I saw it. It was named "I Still Do" and taken by an old lady of her withering husband sleeping in bed. I don't know - a well of emotional just opened and tears came flooding out. I felt embarrassed in front of all the people and the stills of Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan rocking out on stage, screaming into the mic and judging me from their frames. The power of an image is an immovable force.

I was also abnormally comfortable among strangers. I didn't hesitate to comment to girls dressed cutely that I appreciated their fashion sense, I offered to take pictures for a British tourist family I didn't know, I wrote my piece about a photograph of Bob Dylan tuning his guitar in a burger joint. It was such exhilaration to be out there in the world again, to be free, to feel sane. I learned quite a bit about different cultures and the evolution of man. These rechargeable Energizer batteries are LOVE because I took 400 photos and it's not even on low yet with my sporadic on-off-on-off. I even tried to take outfit photos using the tiniest ledge as a support (forgot my mini tripod d'oh).

Without further ado, I present another photo diary of the best of Balboa. By the way, I just found out that balboa is not a tree as I had thought, but the name of Spanish explorer and also the official currency of Panama.

If you ever visit San Diego, you must check out Balboa Park! There are so many museums (11) and little paths you can explore. It's an urban paradise through and through. Every single time I feel like I've been transported to a little town in Europe.

I've been wanting to fashion new outfits these past two days but all this moving to our new place is eating up the best sunlight. Once we get settled in, I will try to dig out my parents' old full tripod and find my new photographing location : ) I didn't post any of my outfit pictures from today because I want it to be relatively surprising and fresh when I do an actual OOTD.

P.S. The two pandas are leaving San Diego Zoo for China nuuuuu!!! Dammit China why do you have to hog all the pandas? You have enough already ... learn to share geez. I must go see them before they leave D: The saddest turtleeee
