Herbal Essences Self-Targeting Shampoo & Conditioner Review

Okay, time to tackle this "Upcoming" list ... Seems like anything that goes on that list doesn't seem to be written about xD Such is life - new things happen that makes for new posts : )

I love Herbal Essences and I have been using their shampoos and conditioners for EVER. For the past month or two I have been using their Self-Targeting Shampoo and Conditioner (the pink set in the picture above). Like all Herbal Essences products, they smell wonderful and cost close to nothing ($3 or so for each shampoo/conditioner - it costs slightly more than a normal Herbal Essences shampoo/conditioner of the same volume). This set has beautiful swirls in the shampoo ^__^ (Easily amused) And admit it - you read the trivia on the back too ...

My hair feels stronger and thicker after using Self-Targeting, but unfortunately even letting the conditioner soak in will not combat dry winter scalps. I would say the drying effect is probably the only con. Meanwhile, my hair is shinier and healthier looking. It's no panacea, but it's pretty good!

I have used the others, but without the extensive time of Self-Targeting:

- Purple = Hydralicious, a moisture-rescue set: I only used the conditioner though. It made my hair smoother but straighter as well (decrease in volume).

- Orange = Featherweight, a set that gives your hair body. My hair did feel more feathery and the strands more separated, but I barely test-trailed this.

To sum it up:

Pros: Nice smell, strengthens hair, shinier and healthier, price

Cons: Dries out scalp

Polished: Freehand French Tip + ELF Polish and LA Colors Art Decor Review

Yay mad attempt at doing a French manicure. I have absolutely no idea how to model these pictures and they honestly look better from far away and in person xD [Nail bloggers - help?]

I used:

ELF Nail Lacquer in Nude

LA Color Art Decor Nail Art Lacquer in White

Sanofi Aventis Topcoat

ELF Polish in Nude (7/10)

It's a beautiful nude shade for $1.00, but it started peeling off in big chunks after 2 days (yes, I used topcoat). It makes your nails look healthier and shiny without screaming "COLOUR" : )

LA Colors Nail Art in White (5/10):

This thing is the most difficult thing to use. EVER. Of course I didn't use any tape and managed to finagle all the tips myself (and ended up using a lot of nail polish remover). See how long the tip is? It's not hard either ... it's extremely soft and bends everywhere as you try to use it. Gahhhhh. The nice thing I guess is that this art decor polish comes in every colour imaginable, so if you've got tape, you can get neon green french tips in a wink.

Dunno how to model nails :D The eyeliner smudge/panda eyes sharply contrast the good girl french tips xD

Photoshop Clone Tool: Make Anything Disappear!

I'm so excited! Today is a wonderful, beautiful almost-spring day in St. Louis and I'm about to head out with Meow Meow to do some shopping! I am doing my nails, which makes it difficult to type haha.

As some of you may know, I went to San Jose at the end of Winter Break to visit my boyfriend and we went to San Francisco for a day. I had never seen the Golden Gate Bridge before, so we went there and walked halfway across it. The whole story is for another time :D

I wanted to put our picture in front of the bridge as my Facebook Profile picture but I noticed a big ugly yellow caution sign in the background. The cure? Photoshop! Unfortunately in my fit of excitement I deleted all evidence of the original image. Use your imaginations xD

Now to work some Photoshop magic:

The sign is magically disappearing! Notice the highlighted button in the left side toolbar. That is the clone tool. Basically you hold down Ctrl (or Command on Mac) while you select any colour in the image and then let go and click or drag or colour like you're using a marker with your mouse on the part you want to help camouflage. Like below, to make the white signpost disappear, I used the green grass colour and applied it on the white xD It's AWESOME!

Used some of the blue from the water to cover up the yellow:

This took like ... 5 minutes and it was super fun! Next we should erase the other people in the background hehehe. (And we're squinting in the photo because the sun was super bright)

Reports from the Library Etiquette and Procrastination Police

See? I'm procrastinating. That's why the comptar must go bye-bye at the library ...

I've been locked up in the library this past week, studying hard for exams of course. Cultural Anthropology was much better than expected. For one, I am never reading an article to take in-depth notes on again! (There are 4 articles a day + textbook chapters T__T). Yay! :D

Physiology was erm ... a critical reading test. Multiple choice? Awesome, right? NO! Answers A - G, basically no curve, and if you can't differentiate between the letters A and G in ATP and GTP, you miss 4 points. D': *grumble* We'll see how that goes. But it was nice because this was the first science exam in college I took without having a heart attack. Sad, but true.

Okay. So this library business. I assume there are some nice rules of etiquette American society follows, and strange violations that occur:

1) (More) Talking in the Quiet Study (than anywhere else)

Okay, this one occurs all the time ... but seriously? Take the convo outside. There are crazed, caffeine addicts who are trying to squeeze words out of their papers and cram some last-minute juicy knowledge into their heads. Most often, the language in question isn't even English. Go be diverse somewhere else.

2) Laughing to yourself while studying

School and academics are not a laughing matter. If you're silently sobbing to yourself, I'll understand. But laughing? What could be so funny about your article that you're blinding yourself with tears of mirth? Really!? Yeah, you, guy with the purple metallic iPod and rainbow highlighters o_O

3) Girls who talk in the bathroom. For 10 minutes. While you have to pee really badly.

There were these two girls the other day who decided to talk about their Valentine's Day woes. In the bathroom stalls like girls often do. But when there are only 3 stalls and one of them is filled with le ickly, please don't. There was a line of 5 people waiting to relieve their anxiety. And yet you keep chattering. Nonstop. No wonder you had woe... what? *grumble*

4) Acrobatic nappers

There are people who manage to contort themselves into the strangest positions. No, not gymnasts, but nappers who overtake the olive green couches. They are SMALL couches. I have seen people half-falling off with their heads dangling off the sides, people who are near 6 feet squish into a 3 feet space, and those who manage to become like liquids - taking the shape of their containers. Yeah ...
